Supporting your therapy clients through birth story processing
You are in this field for a reason, and showing up for your therapy clients with the right healing tools is something that is incredibly important to you. You see the value in continuing to learn about new ways to serve your clients in deep and meaningful ways. Learning how to support the practice of birth story processing is an important way to offer this presence and care to our clients. In this class, you will explore how the book, Birth Story Brave, Reimagined, can guide this practice.
Each and every birthing person leaves their experience carrying a story.
Whether their child's birth went exactly as they hoped or was something else entirely, there is a benefit to the story being told and integrated into the parent's thoughts and self-narrative.
As a therapist, you understand that the narratives we tell ourselves shape our experiences and relationships. Birth story processing lets us dive deep alongside our clients, assisting with the expansion of the narrative and integration of the experience. Additionally, we are granted the opportunity to create a space within which an important step into parenthood or transitions within parenthood can be honored, witnessed, and held.
You will find that birth story processing can be combined with your own unique style and therapy personality. There are countless ways to use therapy modalities alongside it. We will explore some of these, but encourage you to weave them into your own practice in a way that is authentic to you and feels natural.
